Privacy Statement
Careful handling of personal data is of great importance to the COC. Personal data are therefore carefully processed and secured. In doing so, we adhere to the laws and regulations on the protection of personal data, such as the Data Protection Act and - as of May 25, 2018 - the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG).
Responsible for processing personal data
In accordance with legal requirements, when requesting personal data, the COC always indicates the purpose for which the data will be used. The COC will never use the personal data you provide for a purpose other than that for which you agreed when you provided the data.
Purposes of processing personal data
When you visit our website, the COC does not collect any personal data from you. If you register with us, request a service or contact us by phone, we do request and record personal data from you. The COC records only the personal data necessary for the specified purpose.
The following purposes apply to the processing of personal data by the COC:
- Because you have indicated your desire to be a member or donor of the COC
- Because you have indicated that you would like to receive one of our newsletters
- Because you have indicated a desire to participate in one of our activities
- Because you have asked us to contact you about a specific matter

Legal grounds for processing personal data
According to legislation, COC may only process personal data if one of the legal bases for doing so applies. COC uses the following legal bases for processing personal data:
- in connection with the formation and/or performance of an agreement;
- To comply with the law (including accounting processing, tax obligations and obligations under court orders or other mandatory laws and regulations);
- in connection with COC's legitimate interests, with COC taking care to minimize the impact on your privacy.

Personal data security
To protect personal data, the COC has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures against loss or against any form of unlawful processing.
Exchange of personal data
COC Netherlands is a federation of 20 regional associations. Members enter into a membership relationship with a regional association. The associations have outsourced the membership administration to COC Netherlands and COC Netherlands has outsourced this to a membership administration office.
The personal data provided to execute membership is shared between the local association, COC Netherlands and the membership administration office.
The relationship you enter into with COC may involve sharing the personal data you have provided with other organizations. This sharing of data takes place solely on the basis of the relationship you have entered into with us. The personal data you have provided will not be kept longer than the duration of the relationship you have entered into with us, unless otherwise required by law.
No commercial use
The COC will not sell, rent, distribute or otherwise make your personal information commercially available to third parties except as described in this privacy statement or except with your prior consent.
Correctness of personal data provided
By communicating your personal data, you guarantee that they are correct and complete. COC may temporarily or permanently deny you any access to the websites or parts of the websites if you communicate false identities, incomplete or incorrect data.
Retention of personal data
The COC retains personal data no longer than necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the data are processed, and in any case for as long as specific regulations require.
Your privacy rights
You have the right to access your personal data, the right to request correction, restriction or deletion of your personal data, and in addition, you can request the transfer of your data. Finally, you can object to the use of your data.
If the processing of your data is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
